Tarapur is about an hour's drive from the urban sprawl of Mumbai. It is also famous for the nuclear power plant- the first in the country, and much of Mumbai gets power from here. Tarapur has a rich cultural background. Tucked away in a part of the old Tarapur village is this heritage house, which has been painstakingly restored by Pia, one of my best friends. It is her family house. She has tried to bring back the period character of the house with original building materials as they were used 50 years ago- limestone walls, wood, stone floors, tiles over the attic... I was captivated.
